Key topics discussed in class: framing, rule-of-thirds, point of view and leading lines.

Shoot 24 pictures that illustrate your understanding of:

  • Natural framing
  • Leading lines
  • Rule-of-thirds
  • Birds-eye and worms-eye view

Be sure to keep a sharp eye on your light-meter!

Produce twelve prints that best illustrate the assignment.  All prints should also possess superior print quality (i.e. full tonal range, clean borders, no spots or scratches of any kind, etc.).

Primary grading criteria:

  • images should clearly demonstrate one or more of fundamental principles of the assignment (natural framing, etc.)
  • images should be well crafted (no spots or scratches, etc.)
  • images should possess a full tonal range (full spectrum of values, light to dark)
