 Topics Covered: Hand-building (coil, pinch and slab technique), wheel-throwing (plates, bowls and cylinders), vocabulary and contemporary issues in ceramics. Expectations: The course is designed to familiarize the student with the medium of clay and encourage its use as a means of exploring individual expression. Students should also develop greater aesthetic awareness through group critique and informal studio discussion. Studio: Nine potter's wheels, two large (new) electric kilns, ware carts, clay mixer, pug-mill, four large work tables, spray booth, raku kiln, individual storage units for every student.
